Diodes Incorporated has recently announced the PI3WVR14412Q, a video switch specifically designed for automotive applications such as in-cabin infotainment systems and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). This switch is capable of handling high-speed data transmission at a rate of 20Gbps and follows automotive-compliant standards.

The PI3WVR14412Q features a compact design, making it suitable for space-constrained automotive applications. It consists of four high-speed lanes with a bandwidth of 10GHz, enabling it to support various connectivity standards such as DisplayPort™ 2.1, HDMI™ 2.1, MIPI® DPHY/CPHY, USB 3.2, and LVDS. Additionally, the switch incorporates functionality for hot-plug detect (HPD), HDMI display data channel (DDC), and DisplayPort auxiliary (AUX) signals. The device ensures excellent signal integrity with its low insertion loss, low return loss, and low channel-to-channel crosstalk.

One noteworthy feature of the PI3WVR14412Q is its ability to handle high-speed differential signals up to 1.2V peak-to-peak. It supports a wide common-mode voltage range from 0V to the supply rail, which can go up to 3.3V. This wide voltage range allows for DC signal coupling, eliminating the need for AC-coupling capacitors and saving valuable PCB space.

In terms of compliance, the PI3WVR14412Q meets automotive standards and is qualified to AEC-Q100 Grade 2. It is manufactured in facilities certified with IATF 16949, a quality management system for the automotive industry, and supports PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) documents. Furthermore, its wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 105°C makes it suitable for deployment in challenging environments, including those exposed to direct sunlight.
